ABOUT US

Hello, I'm Jeff Natalie, welcome to ErieKIDS! This website and the ErieKIDS organization that it represents is a result of a dream to bring back strong families to our communities. I was fortunate to be educated at Case Western Reserve University and trained in family therapy at Philadelphia Child Guidance and Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, some of the leading institutes for education in the world. But I received no better training than by my mother and father, a traditional Sicilian couple with traditional European values. The most important of which is the value of "Family" and all that go along with it, like respect, loyalty and most of all, love.

Those values are reflected in the mission of ErieKIDS. We are a non-profit organization that provides community education and information services in a culturally relevant way to promote the mental, emotional and social health and wellness of children and families. And that's what we are about, building healthy families, giving them a chance to learn what I learned under the leadership of a strong mother and father.

How we help kids and families is the best part of all. I have assembled the greatest board of directors. These are passionate, dedicated parents, experts and professionals who believe in the core mission of ErieKIDS. They agree that we need to be innovative in educating families. That's why we not only offer spoken presentations to schools, parent groups, universities and agencies, we make MOVIES, write books and articles, publish audio and video logs. All of which we donate to the schools where Erie kids attend....for free! We train therapists to treat the toughest families better. We consult with agencies on how to reach their goals and get their word out, too.

We've won awards, too. One that I'm particularly proud of was a result of a collaboration with another kid agency. This award garnered praise by US Senators and Representatives.

There's so much more, so take your time and have a look at all we have to offer. Thanks for your support of ErieKIDS. We're not just about Erie's kids, we're here for your kids too, no matter where you live!

Here's to you and your family!

According to the National Mental Health Association "Mental health problems affect one in every five young people at any given time. (Department of Health & Human Services) An estimated two-thirds of all young people with mental health problems are not getting the help they need. (Department of Health & Human Services) Studies indicate that 1 in 5 children and adolescents (20 percent) may have a diagnosable disorder. Estimates of the number of children who have mental disorders range from 7.7 million to 12.8 million. (Department of Health & Human Services)."
