Social Work is about meeting people where they are. That philosophy is found rooted in the mission of ErieKIDS.
One of our basic tenets of ErieKIDS is to support the education of the community. One way we do that is by informing citizens and congressional leaders about the needs of children and families.
Currently, our advocacy energies are directed towards producing new programming for emotional education and resiliency, superior childcare, child abuse prevention, and obesity in children.
ErieKIDS is also committed to supporting the missions of child advocates that share our passion for the reunification of the family. As a result, we have volunteered our time to the support, education and consultation of these organizations.
One example is a public service announcement that we co-produced for the YMCA of Greater Erie's childcare. The combined efforts of the YMCA and ErieKIDS yielded a national award and praise from a bi-partisan congressional committee for the piece. (click here to read about it).
The YMCA and ErieKIDS then produced this PSA to continue to encourage community support of the after school caucus.
As a result our President, Jeffrey Natalie, won the "Volunteer of the Year" award for his efforts to help the YMCA.
